A top political TV show in Kenya has been canceled after a guest on the show made an inappropriate rape remark about a female guest. The show’s host was a former CNN journalist, Jeff Koinange and he apologised on Thursday night for the 17 November incident.

The show’s guests were Miguna Miguna and Esther Passaris, both of whom are aspirants for the Nairobi governor seat.

Mr Miguna said “Esther is so beautiful everybody wants to rape her”.

“You are chasing men all over, nobody wants you,” he continued. “You think you’re beautiful, you are not. Esther is just colour. Without colour you are nothing.”

The footage was shared online and earned criticism from millions of viewers. Koinange said in his apology, “It was regrettable in most parts but again it was one show out of 300 we’ve done here at KTN for the last three years.”
